I would like to acknowledge, Mr. Tavis Smiley. He is an African-American Social Activist, Talk Show & Radio Host, Author, Museum Curator and Philanthropist. Tavis stated, ’My personal assessment is that Dr. King is the greatest American we have ever produced. I can argue for Lincoln, I can argue for FDR, but for my money, King is the greatest American we have ever produced. His only weapon was love. He transforms a nation, transforms the world with one weapon and that of course being again the weapon of love. So that for me, King is the quintessential example of everything that I could ever want to be in my lifetime.’

I state, Tavis is the epitome of a modern-day role model for all little Black children, teen-agers and young adults alike. It’s so interesting you can look in his eyes and still see him as a little boy with the faith of a mustard seed in search of a better life for himself and the world around him which he turned into reality. Mr. Smiley comes from humble beginnings and his coming of age story reminds of us all of the journey that we all must take from childhood to adulthood.

Mr. Smiley has branded himself into a entity of power. Tavis has also dedicated his life to addressing the issues of the oppressed and answers the call for social ailments of those oppressed through his mass philanthropy subdivisions within The Smiley Group. He takes us into the minds of our heros, leaders and entertainers through his radio and talk shows interviews. He enlights and encourages our faith through his motivational speech talks, townhall meetings and informative books. Tavis is known for the infamous quote, ‘keep the faith.’ Way to go, Tavis for keeping the torch lit and being a role model for all of Black America because you are living proof of a well-rounded achieved life.
